Based on the cult John Waters film Hairspray and set in 1960s racially divided Baltimore,Hairspray tells the story of pleasantly plump Tracy Turnblad, a girl with a big heart, big hair and an even bigger passion for dancing. When the Corny Collins Show announces a dance competition for Americas next teen dance star, Tracy jumps at the chance to achieve her dream. Tracy must break down barriers of race and class, win the affections of heart throb Link Larkin, and spend the night in jail. Dr. Thaddeus John Bell, founder of Closing The Gap In Healthcare Inc. is proud to announce that on September 3-5, 2010, the 2nd Annual Low Country Jazz Festival will be held at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center and other locations around Charleston, SC.
Charleston, SC will come alive during The Low Country Jazz Festival. The Low Country Jazz Festival will bring together local and international artists in beautiful Charleston South Carolina with performances at a number of local venues as well as the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.
Confirmed artists for the main event on Saturday, September 4th at the Performing Arts Center include legendary Contemporary Jazz Band Spyro Gyra; former Tower of Power Sax man and national recording artist, Euge Groove, Former leader of the Funk/Jazz Band Down To The Bone , Saxophonist Shilts, and Charleston South Carolinas own Charlton Singleton. Other festival activities will be announced soon.
The Low Country Jazz Festival is quickly becoming a highly anticipated event in the Carolinas attracting festival attendees from North, South Carolina and abroad. Many come just for the music, while others enjoy the beaches, shopping and fine dining Charleston SC has to offer. As we move ahead, the strategy is to expand The Low Country Jazz Festival and position it as a destination event , attracting thousands of out-of-towners to Charleston South Carolina.
